Welcome to Soltys Dentistry
A COVID-19 UPDATE FROM SOLTYS DENTISTRY TO CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE PATIENTS
At Soltys Dentistry, your health and the health of our staff continue to be of utmost importance. With the rapidly changing situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to update our valued patients of what we at Soltys Dentistry plan to do since we first closed to elective care on March 17.
The Illinois State Dental Society issued guidelines for dental offices late on Sunday, March 15, which recommended amongst many items closure of dental practices for elective care from March 17 through March 31. We immediately followed that recommendation, as per our previous email and text messaging to you as well as staff re-scheduling your appointments during this time period. A day later, the American Dental Association’s guidelines were released, which effectively were the same except for an extension of practice closure for non-emergent care through April 7. Then, our governor issued a “shelter-in-place” executive order on Friday, March 20, effective the next day at 5:00 p.m. and effective through April 7th.
Choosing to align with the current April 7 guidelines, we are revising our office closure to extend through Tuesday, April 7, from the previous March 31 benchmark. Please know we will continue to see dental emergencies during this time, but we will continue to postpone all elective dental treatment and procedures through this time period.
Our office will begin to call those patients that need to be re-scheduled during these additional closure days. We also want you to know that we are the midst of a serious deep-clean of our office beyond our already high standards during this time off.
I think the following bears repeating. When we finally return for comprehensive care but still being cautious, we will ask you to stay in your cars when you come for your appointment instead of coming into the reception room; we will call you in via cell phone. We will limit the number of patients at a given time in our office. All reading materials and children’s toys have already been removed from our reception room; the hospitality area will also be removed temporarily. We will also ask our patients to wash their hands in our operatory before and after treatment. Please know that we will continue to disinfect all public areas in reception, business office, bathrooms, and our hallway on a very frequent schedule. In terms of infection control at our dental practice, we are proud of what we as a dental team have always done throughout our careers. We routinely wear personal protective equipment as well as thoroughly disinfect surfaces in our operatories that cannot be sterilized and sterilize of all instruments and handpieces that are not disposable.
We are sorry to have extend this disruptive action, but we are choosing to align with current recommendations for the safety of our community, patients, and dental team. We will continue to keep you informed as the situation warrants.
Be smart and stay healthy.
